About the Company

Code Electric, founded in 1962, is a commercial electrical contractor based in Tempe, Arizona. The company consistently ranks among the top 25 largest electrical contractors in the Phoenix Business Journal's Book of Lists. The company is privately held and open shop. Code Electric provides both electrical construction and service with a team of skilled electricians. Much of our business is with repeat customers due to the company's reputation for doing excellent work and treating our customers with integrity over our 44-year history. Leading organizations such as Boeing, General Electric and Proctor & Gamble have all trusted Code Electric to provide substantial electrical work on an ongoing basis for over a decade.

Code Electric has completed a wide variety of projects in our lengthy history. These projects include large water treatment plants, power plants, manufacturing plants, office buildings, retail buildings, hotels, museums, churches, government buildings, schools, higher education buildings, medical buildings and even the Phoenix Zoo. Code Electric also provides design, construction, finance and decision support for solar photovoltaic systems. The company’s president has extensive experience in this field, having worked for two manufacturers of solar panels prior to acquiring Code Electric. See Solar for more information.

Gene Tschumy founded the Company in 1962, and Jim Sneed joined him soon thereafter. The Company was originally a union contractor, but converted to an open shop format in 1983. Throughout our history, Code Electric has maintained a commitment to maintaining a workforce of highly skilled electricians who can perform the most challenging work in the marketplace. This commitment is apparent by the types of projects we do and customers we serve.

At the end of 2005, Mark Holohan acquired Code Electric. Mr. Holohan’s background includes nearly 30 years of engineering and construction experience in projects ranging from residential solar electric systems to the nation’s largest nuclear power plant. Mr. Holohan is an accomplished energy professional, having been very active in the energy management system market and an instructor in the local Certified Energy Manager program. As the Sales Director for a U.S. solar panel manufacturer, Mr. Holohan facilitated sales of large commercial solar electric systems in California, Arizona, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Missouri, Colorado, Nevada and Hawaii. Mr. Holohan’s solar experience spans over 100 projects ranging from residential systems to a one-megawatt system, the largest allowed by California’s net metering laws. Mr. Holohan holds an engineering degree and MBA.
